There are a variety of ways you can support Caring for Our Watersheds (CFW)! We're always looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:
**Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and have a basic understanding of the community, watershed and local environmental issues.**
Help us sort through written CFW proposals to select the top proposals for our contest. Students selected for the final competition receive implementation funds and are eligible to compete for a chance to earn cash prizes for themselves and their school! There are three steps to the judging process:
Step A: January 9th, 2023
Step B: January 11th and 12th, 2023
Step C (by invitation only): January 17th, 2023 (9AM - 2PM)
Guide a team through the implementation process of their project from January 26th, 2023 to May 12th, 2023 and prepare them for the final competition. Mentors meet their assigned team on February 2nd, 2023 at the Poudre Learning Center and continue to meet with them from there on out on a monthly basis (at minimum) for quick check-ins.
Mentors are responsible for CONSULTING and GUIDING students on their watershed projects, if needed, and periodically reporting the status of the project to the Program Coordinator or Ambassador. Students usually take over the project on their own, but it’s been super helpful to have someone that can check in on them so we can identify concerns prior to the finals. The Program Coordinator and Ambassador will be available to guide and assist mentors. Mentor resources will also be made available.
Write constructive feedback (5 - 8 sentences) for students that entered the contest. Students can use this feedback to enter the contest the following year. A stipend is available ($4 - $5 per feedback). You will be directed by Greeley-Evans School District to complete a vendor form but they will not send you a 1099 (tax form) unless the amount of money they send you during a calendar year exceeds $500.
Each writer decides how many proposals are assigned to them and when they write their feedback. A template will be provided for writing feedback along with examples and other resources. Writers will receive their assigned papers February 7th and have until March 7th to turn in all feedback electronically.
Contact Ivonne Morales at imorales4@greeleyschools.org to receive an invite! Registration closes Wednesday, December 15th.
The date is approaching fast and we’re making preparations. Don’t miss out! Judging of written proposals will begin January 9th.
